Soft and delicious cinnamon buns that just came out of the oven 😋. I can’t get enough! They are so good. Cinnamon buns are a little intimidating! They are super easy to make just follow the steps. It seems like they take a long time to make, but its mainly the rising time. It’s about 30 minutes of actual work, and the outcome is delicious.
Ingredients:
DOUGH:
1 cup of Warm milk (not hot)
2 1/4 teaspoon dry active yeast (1 (4oz) packet)
4 cups Flour ( maybe 1/4 cup additional)
1/2 cup Sugar
1/3 cup melted butter
2 Eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
Filling:
1 cup brown sugar
2 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon
1 stick softened butter
Glaze:
2 cups powder sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
6 tablespoon milk
- DOUGH: Warm your milk just warm to the touch Not Hot! In a big bowl or Kitchen aid stand mixer, add the milk and yeast, let sit about 5 minutes. Until bubbles form.
- In the same bowl add the eggs, butter, sugar and salt, mix until incorporated.
- Switch to the dough hook if using Kitchen aid stand mixer, Now add the 4 cups of flour,1 cup at a time, and mix together. If it’s still really sticky add a little bit more flour 1 tablespoon at a time. No more than 1/4 cup. It will still have some stickiness to it. Knead by hand or using mixer for a few minutes.
- Spray or lightly oil a clean bowl and put the dough into it making sure both sides of dough have a little spray/oil on it ( I flip it once in the bowl). Cover and let rise in a warm place for about an hour. Until double in size. * I set my oven to 200 degress while I’m making the dough turn it off a couple minutes before I put the bowl of dough in there.
5. Put some flour on the counter and put the dough on it. Using a roller pin add some flour to the pin. Roll out the dough the best you can into a rectangle. Try and get it to about 12× 6.
6. Theres 2 ways: 1.Mix the butter, cinnamon and brown sugar together. Spread it across the dough.
2. Mix sugar and cinnamon together, spread the butter on the dough leaving a little space by the edges then sprinkle the sugar mixture.
7. Now roll the dough up starting from the longest side. Start at one end and work your way down going back and forth till it is evenly rolled. Mark where you will cut to make 12 even rolls. Then cut them and place in a greased 9 x 13 baking dish. Cover and let rise again for about an hour.
8. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Take the chill off the cream and pour over the rolls. Cook for about 20 minutes, I checked mine at 20 and they were done. Stick a toothpick in the rolls to make sure, if it comes out clean they are done.
9. Mix your glaze ingredients together, then pour the glaze over the rolls. I like to use half then save the other half for when I eat more. Unless they are getting eaten that day, I like to add more as we eat them. Enjoy!
