Sausage gravy is very easy to make and a wonderful breakfast to have. I love biscuits and gravy its one of my favorite things to eat. I even like to put the gravy on skillets when I order them from the restaurant its so good. If you have your own sausage you can use that or I like to have Jimmy Deans sausage at home in the freezer and pull it out when I need it.
Ingredients:
1 (16 ounce) tube of Jimmy Dean regular pork sausage
3 Tablespoon of flour
2 1/2 cups of milk
1/2 teaspoon of salt and pepper
And biscuits of course!
- Start by browning the sausage in a medium skillet, breaking it up as you go. I like to have smaller pieces of sausage.
- When the sausage is no longer pink you can add in the flour and mix it in real good and let it cook on medium low heat for a couple minutes to cook the flour taste out.
- Slowly add in the milk and keep mixing as you go until the milk is all in. It will start to thicken. Usually takes about 5 – 10 minutes. Put your biscuits in the oven so they are ready when the gravy is. Add in the salt and pepper and when the biscuits are done poor the gravy over them and enjoy!
If your gravy seems too thick add more milk a little at a time. Just keep in mind it will thicken as it cools down.
