Homemade Augratin Potatoes

Ingredients:

4 large russet potatoes, peeled and sliced

3 Tablespoons butter

3 Tablespoons of flour

1 1/2 cups of milk

2 cups of cheddar cheese (freshly grated)

salt and pepper

These are the best potatoes to go with any dinner. Cheesy, gooey deliciousness. So good my family loves to have these all the time. Pretty simple to make just potatoes, cheese, milk, flour and salt n pepper. I really like that they are so easy to make. Just slice some potatoes and make a cheese sauce and bake, its as simple as that.

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and grease a medium sized pan.
  2. Peel your potatoes and then rinse them off. Slice thin or you can dice the potatoes, just make sure they are around the same size. Put them into the pan.
  3. Grate your cheese, you will need fresh from the block. The store bought prepackaged kind does not melt good. In a medium sauce pan melt the butter in the pan then add the flour in. Keep stirring about a couple of minutes to let the flour cook. This is called making a roué.

  1. Slowly add the milk in, this is important to do it slowly until it is all incorporated. let it cook for a few minutes and it will thicken up. Slowly add in the cheese and mix it all in until melted.
  2. Salt and pepper your potatoes in the pan and then add the cheese sauce. Mix up the cheese and potatoes then put into the oven and bake about 45-60 minutes uncovered.

Hi there! I've always had a passion for food. Ever since I was little. I was never a picky eater, but when I had kids I had to start altering the foods we ate. Being a mother of 3 has put me to the test. I've always enjoyed to cook. As you all know kids change everything. I started cooking all the time, trying different recipes and making them from scratch. My kids love my food and like to help out, thats all I can ask for. So now here I am trying to spread the love and passion with you.
