Who said tacos had to be ordinary. You can use different cuts of steak that you have on hand. I Iike to use skirt steak or top round. I try and buy them when they are on sale and reasonably priced. Put it in the freezer and when we’re feeling like steak tacos it’s possible. You should have the seasonings all on hand and most the time the liquid ingredients too. So simple to make even if your short on time you can still make these. I love to use my blackstone to cook these tacos. They cook super quick. Or a iron skillet is perfect too. If not, any pan will do the job. Enjoy your tacos!
Ingredients:
1-1/2 pounds skirt steak(round, ny)
2 Tablespoon Lime juice (prefer fresh)
1 Tablespoon vegetable/olive oil
3 Tablespoons soy sauce
2 teaspoons chili powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 garlic clove minced
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon oregano
Steps:
- Put the steak in the freezer for about 30 minutes. It’s easier to slice when slightly frozen.
- Mix all the dry and wet ingredients in a medium bowl. Set aside.
- Slice your steak into thin slices. Cut against the grain. Then add into your marinade. Let marinade at least an hour to 12 hours in the fridge.
- Heat up your skillet or blackstone and cook the steak in batches. 2-3 minutes each side. Don’t overcrowd. Cook until everything is done and add your favorite toppings. Enjoy!!
Tools to making cooking easier
Blackstone – Seriously the best mothers day gift I have ever received. It cooks so fast and delicious. The cleanup isn’t so bad either, it makes cleaning my kitchen not so bad.
Cast Iron Skillet– great alternative if you don’t have a blackstone.
